A Quick Note on Flyer & Door Hanger Distribution

Before launching your Neighbor Invite Campaign, it’s important to make sure your outreach follows local guidelines. Door hangers are widely accepted in both the U.S. and Canada and are a great way to invite neighbors. However, placing flyers directly in mailboxes is regulated by federal law and is not permitted in many areas.

Additionally, some neighborhoods—especially those with Homeowners Associations (HOAs) or specific local bylaws—have flyer or door hanger distribution restrictions. These rules vary widely, so it’s always best to check before distributing materials.

To ensure we’re good neighbors and above board:

  • Check local regulations on flyer and door hanger distribution.
  • Look up HOA rules for any neighborhoods you’re covering.
  • Do a quick web search for your city’s or municipality’s specific guidelines.
  • If in doubt—use door hangers! They are widely accepted and effective.

A little research upfront helps ensure your invitations reach people the right way, with respect and integrity. Happy inviting!
